CLASS LEVEL DESCRIPTION
LEVEL 1 Classes for individuals new to a fitness program or in need of modifications to traditional exercise. Will not go to floor. Most of class spent in a chair, some performed standing behind the chair and may be modified to be done from chair.
LEVEL 2 Be comfortable with Level 1 before taking Level 2 which is geared to a moderate intensity. Exercises completed in and out of chair. Many exercises done standing working on balance, strength, flexibility and endurance.
LEVEL 3 Suggested to be comfortable with Level 2 and have the ability to move yourself to and from floor.
COGNITIVE Geared to help people engage their mind with different acticites and social experiences.

Exercise Class Description:

Merry Muscle Makers – A fun class used to increase strength and tone muscles while keeping heart rate elevated with movement.  This Level 2 class is done working from seated to standing positions using a variety of exercise tools such as hand-held weights, rubber-resistance tubing, resistance balls and aerobic steps.  Currently attended by women.

Bodies in Motion – Enhance the functions of daily living with this gentle Level 1 class.  Offering seated and standing range of motion movement, along with strength, flexibility and balance exercise.  Participants will use hand-held weights, resistance balls and rubber-resistance tubing.

Men’s Fitness League – An energetic class used to increase strength and tone muscles while keeping heart rate elevated with movement.  This Level 2 class is done working from seated to standing positions using a variety of exercise tools such as hand-held weights, rubber-resistance tubing, resistance balls and aerobic steps.  Currently attended by men.

Tai Chi – Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that is gentle on the joints.  This class is taught in simplified form from both chair and standing positions to promote correct body postures, flexibility, muscular strength and balance.  Deep breathing and relaxation is a main focus of this class suitable for almost anyone it is a Level 1 class.

Yoga – A slow flowing class ideal for those wanting to increase suppleness, strength, balance and coordination.  Allow yourself to be guided through gentle and effective yoga poses, breathing practices and relaxation.  Classes are taught seated, then standing using chair for stability along with some exercises and relaxation on the floor.  Yoga is a Level 3 class.

Stretch and Tone – Increase range of motion and activities of daily living with this Level 1 class.  Hand-held weights, rubber-resistance tubing and resistance balls may be used with a variety of exercises to increase strength and tone muscles.

Relax & Flow – Develop energy, coordination, flexibility and relaxation skills with this thoughtfully guided Level 1 class using slow moving exercises (including Tai Chi and chair yoga movements).

Morning Strollers – Improve endurance with the simplest cardio workout-Walking.  It’s also the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.  Join us in a Level 2 class as we walk on and off campus during nice weather or inside Main Building during inclement weather.

Cardio Conditioning – Improve circulation and strengthen the heart, lungs and blood vessels. Build endurance and strength for the heart muscle using the equipment in the Fitness Center and a variety training techniques. Variety of fitness levels welcome. Six-Week Class

Mind Exercise – This cognitive class is geared to help people engage their mind with different activities and social experiences.  Brain workouts include puzzles, games, maps, word pyramids and newspaper activities.

Total Training – Multiple exercises all in one class! There will be sessions of exercise that include: TRX bands, cardio and weights, dance, and tabata HITT. This is a level 3 class using many movements while standing, sitting, and lying on the floor.
