Washington, IA (October 26, 2015) – The United Presbyterian Home has named David Maupin of Coralville and Dale and JoAnn Torpey of Washington as the Steering Committee Co-Chairs for their upcoming expansion project.  The UP Home announced their plans for their Expansion of Quality First Services in September which will include an addition on to the south hall of the current Health Center. The first floor of the addition will house 17 private rooms and the lower level addition will have first-class wellness, fitness and therapy facilities which will include a warm water therapy pool.

“I am really excited about the project and what it will offer to our seniors in three different areas: a Dementia specific household; a short-term stay household for rehab, hospice and respite care; and Wellness and Therapy space with the pool.” Said JoAnn, a UP Home Board Member and retired nurse.“The UP Home wants to stay on the cutting edge of health care and wellness for our residents. Opening up the Exercise and Wellness area to those who are 55 and older in our community is a real plus and will offer options specific to seniors.”

The proposed project gives the United Presbyterian Home the ability to fulfill their vision to maximize the quality of life for those they serve with the creation of separate households allowing us to provide resident-centered care as well as the ability to provide additional services to the residents and the community through a new Wellness and Therapy space.

“This project is for the UP Home residents and also for the community as a whole.  It will enable all community members to lead a healthy life,” said Dale, retired Bank President & CEO.
